O, HAPPY DAY

Can't keep quiet about this one. Been silent too long. Why? I'm writing a new book.

My bedspread is drenched in tears of joy. What an event to see in one's lifetime. Hard to get down to business now. I hope Obama enjoys his lunch. Wish I was there eating seafood soup and roasted birds with him. I wonder if the girls have allergies or vegetarian inclinations. Didn't Michelle look gorgeous, although I questioned the fit of her coat, in the back, it seemed a bit tight under the arms. But I loved the outfit, the color, gloves, everything. And the girls with their satin bows. Will all black girls want to straighten their hair now? Should I? And how about Aretha Franklyn's hat! Damn. Hot stuff! Although after hearing the clip of Marion Anderson sing that song in 1932 at the Lincoln Memorial, it's hard to hear anyone else sing it.

I pray for Obama's safety and well being.

Looking at the face of Goerge Bush during the ceremony, wondering what can be going through his mind, what are his feelings? I kept imagining him taking out a gun and shooting himself in the head. The most interesting shots, before the ceremonies got started, were of the movers in back of the White House packing up Bush's stuff and loading it on to trucks... all those socks and underwear - out! Out! Good riddance!

Nearly broke my silence after the Golden Globes awards when i wanted to bash everyone who used the word "amazing," which was everyone without exception, but I let it pass. I settled down and tried to be kind to the mis-users and mis-understanders of language.

Which is not the case with our new President, an eloquent man who, my two-year-old grandson Nico calls Omama.

Happy day! Let there be PEACE.

And, HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my son Evan. I love you!
